Support from ZERO2FIVE

ZERO2FIVE provides Ty Tanglwyst Dairy with annual support to maintain their SALSA certification. SALSA is one of the UK’s most widely recognised food and drink safety certification schemes, and it plays a crucial role for many manufacturers by helping them secure major retail and foodservice listings. Achieving SALSA approval demonstrates that a business is operating to robust, industry‑recognised food and drink safety standards.

A ZERO2FIVE technologist provides ongoing mentoring and training throughout the year to ensure Ty Tanglwyst Dairy’s food safety management systems remain up to date with the requirements of the SALSA standard. Recent areas of focus include the prerequisite controls required to underpin their HACCP food safety management system including supplier approval, cleaning and sanitation, and good hygiene practices.

Before each SALSA audit, ZERO2FIVE also carries out an independent internal audit of Ty Tanglwyst Dairy’s food safety management systems, identifying and providing support with any final best‑practice improvements needed to ensure full audit readiness.

Another recent project saw ZERO2FIVE provide comprehensive new product development support to help the company launch a new range of chocolate milk. This initiative was designed to make effective use of surplus milk produced during school holidays. A ZERO2FIVE technologist guided the business from concept through to launch, assisting with raw material sourcing, recipe development, and establishing key food safety parameters such as shelf‑life testing and a bespoke HACCP plan. They also completed nutritional calculations and ensured the product met all legal labelling requirements.

Benefits of the support

Ty Tanglwyst Dairy’s chocolate milk launched in January 2026 and has been very well received across local colleges and universities. Building on its success, the company now plans to introduce a two‑pint variant to extend the range.

In April 2026, Ty Tanglwyst Dairy underwent its most recent SALSA audit and successfully maintained its certification. SALSA approval remains essential for the business, enabling it to tender for local government and education sector contracts.

Rhys Lougher, Owner, Ty Tanglwyst: “The support we receive from ZERO2FIVE is superb. Their industry expertise is hugely beneficial as they understand that for new processes and ideas to be successfully implemented, they need to be practical and logical for our staff to carry out. We see the ZERO2FIVE technologist as a key member of our team, and we greatly appreciate their support.”
